With the 14th annual Drambuie Key West Marlin Tournament about to take place, the brand announced today that Brad Golden of Ogallala, Nebraska, is the lucky individual who has won the chance to compete in this year’s contest of man versus marlin. Mr. Golden and a guest will join up to 75 teams angling for $5,000 in cash prizes, from July 18-21. Teams can win by accumulating the most points for blue marlin, white marlin and spearfish. The first-place team earns $25,000, while second- and third-place prize winners earn $10,000 and $5,000, respectively. Teams also can enter one fun fish (dolphin, tuna, wahoo or released sailfish) per boat, per day to add to their point total and vie for a separate $10,000 cash prize.
Mr. Golden, a director of Information Technology at a Nebraska school district, learned of the sweepstakes when he was searching for a special spirit for a friend’s birthday. An avid fisherman, he entered after purchasing a bottle of Drambuie liqueur. “Outdoor activities are a major attraction where I live, including freshwater fishing on Lake McConaughy,” said Golden. “But this will be my first ocean fishing experience, so I’m very excited to be visiting Key West.”
