People take luxury vacations for all sorts of reasons. Some of us travel to hear music, and plan trips around music festivals. And why not? The concerts rock; the “what should we do tonight?” issue is settled; and the T-shirts are great.
I’m a music fest fan, and there’s one that I cannot and will not miss. I’ve been up to the Montreal International Jazz Festival 15 times. Come this June 25th, make that 16.
My feeling is that Montreal is an inspired luxury travel destination any time of year. And its Jazz Festival, held during French Canada’s brief but delicious summer, is the icing on the gâteau.
Now in its 32nd year, the Montreal Jazz Fest is the world’s biggest and best. Hundreds of expertly produced concerts spotlight the lions of jazz — and tomorrow’s stars. (Diana Krall, Norah Jones, Josh Redman, and Brad Mehldau gigged here as virtual unknowns.) All the outdoor concerts are free, the crowd is social, and the whole scene swings.
So think about a tuneful trip to the Montreal Jazz Fest. It runs from June 25th through July 4th, and there are still plenty of hotel rooms left. Your festival T is waiting.
