Kushner Sends Records Related to Russia Probe to Special Counsel Mueller

US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner handed over documents related to the Russia probe to Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s team, media reported.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Jared Kushner sent to Mueller documents related to the firing of former FBI Director James Comey, CNN said citing sources familiar with the matter on Thursday.

The FBI is looking into possible obstruction of justice in the termination of Comey, who led the Russia probe before Mueller took over.

CNN said Kushner gave the documents at his own free will. The president’s son-in-law is not a subject of the ongoing investigation, the report added.

In late July, Kushner said neither he nor anyone in the campaign colluded with Russia to sway the 2016 US election.

Kushner also denied in a statement the allegations that he had proposed to set a secret communication channel with Moscow during the meeting with Russia’s then-ambassador to the United States Sergei Kislyak, and said he did not recall any phone calls with the Russian ambassador during the campaign.

Russia has repeatedly called on the US to stop the “bullying” campaign against Kislyak, adding that he regularly met US officials as it was his duty at the time he was the Russian envoy to the country.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called the accusations “absolutely groundless” and that Russia never had contacts with the Trump campaign team.
