Arsene Wenger says the “luxury” of a fully-fit Arsenal attacking squad causes selection issues

Arsene Wenger admits having a number of his Arsenal attacking players fully fit is causing a selection headache.

Arsenal host Norwich City in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday, with the north London outfit expected to rotate their squad following their 5-2 victory against Everton in the Premier League.

Jack Wilshere, Theo Walcott, Alex Iwobi and Olivier Giroud were all on the bench for the trip to Goodison Park, and Wenger insists it is a “luxury” to have such available fire-power though it also causes a selection dilemma.

“That’s the luxury I have at the moment,” Wenger said about Arsenal’s fully-fit attacking line-up.

“It’s a difficulty I have as well because all of these players are doing well and playing well and they deserve to play. Fortunately, we have important games every week so I give competition to everybody.

“We have so much offensive force on the bench as well that it’s really a strong point of the club at the moment.”

Arsenal enjoyed a 1-0 win in the third round of the Carabao Cup when facing Doncaster, and Wenger sees the domestic competition as an opportunity to continue to use the full depth of his squad.

Reiss Nelson, Mohamed Elneny and Ainsley Maitland-Niles were all handed starting places for the victory in September, and the Arsenal boss confirmed that the theme will remain on Tuesday night.

“Yes, I continue to rotate,” added Wenger. “I have gone into that rotation policy so I have to continue to do it especially after both teams work well and both teams stimulate each other at the moment.”

“I must say it’s definitely making a difference because to win away from home in the way we did, you need some special quality and let’s hope we can reiterate that against Norwich.”
