Jarrell Miller certainly talks the talk, but does ‘Big Baby’ walk the walk and is he ready to face Anthony Joshua or Deontay Wilder?

Miller looks like a lot of fun during fight week, but he’s not up at the elite level in the heavyweight division. It is a small pond, with a couple of very big fish at the moment, so it is hard to see how he gets up there – although talking a good game always helps.
Put him in with Dillian Whyte, that would be good. The winner would prove he is the next in line to try and get a shot at the world titles.
Miller’s not yet in that position, he hasn’t beat anyone. [Mariusz] Wach is a good test, but again the Pole has not beaten anyone of decent note himself, he’s more known as a gallant loser who is durable with a great chin.
Wach is not a stepping stone to a world title fight, just a name. ‘Big Baby’ can outwork him but I don’t think he will stop him, I like his talk but he still has improvements to make. I would definitely like him to face one of the big boys further down the line.
In today’s climate then possibly he is ready. I think there is a bit of a gap between fighting someone like Wach and then facing ‘AJ’ or Wilder. I think he will take on someone else first, someone a bit more of a threat if he beats Wach. He needs that bridging fight.
Miller’s certainly exciting, he rolls forward, throws plenty of shots and he’s a fun fighter to watch. You want to see exciting fighters and he ticks that box. He talks the talk, but there’s levels in this game, he hasn’t had the challenging fights. Wach is at least a step up, though.
No, he’s not yet ready, he’s definitely talking a great fight and he needs a bit more experience. He’s started shouting now and then I believe in 18 months’ time or around then, he will get that big shot.
He needs to get recognised and keep improving. If the big boys are smart they’ll probably get him now before he is the finished article. If you’ve got the character and self-belief that he has, then a lot of the time that makes up for whatever else you’ve got.
