PSG defender Thomas Meunier has revealed PSG rejected a deadline day offer from Chelsea
Thomas Meunier has revealed Chelsea made a summer Deadline Day approach to sign him from Paris-Saint Germain.
PSG were unwilling to allow the Belgian international to leave the Parc des Princes as his departure would have left head coach Unai Emery with Dani Alves as his only recognised right-back.
Tottenham signed Serge Aurier from the Ligue 1 side on the final day of the summer window, despite interest from Chelsea, who filled their vacancy at right-back with Davide Zappacosta.
Chelsea also had a bid rejected for Bayern Munich right-back Rafinha on Deadline Day, but he opted to remain with the German champions.

“The last day of the transfer period Chelsea made an offer to Paris Saint-Germain, but I know the answer was no,” Meunier told Sky Sports News, after Belgium’s 3-3 draw with Mexico.
“The club didn’t want to sell me because we have two right-backs with Dani Alves and myself, it was difficult to sell one of us.
“I didn’t really think about it [joining Chelsea] because they called me in to tell me, ‘You will not move, so don’t think about Chelsea or any other club. You will stay in Paris and we are counting on you for the season’.”
