South Koreans Stage Massive Anti-War Rally Ahead of Trump’s Visit (VIDEO)

The US President is set to visit South Korea during his major Asian trip that is currently underway to hold talks on the resolution of the unfolding North Korean crisis.

TOKYO (Sputnik) — Thousands of South Koreans took part in an anti-war rally in Seoul ahead of US President Donald Trump’s visit to the country, local media reported Sunday.

About 5,000 people gathered in the center of South Korea’s capital. They were waving banners and balloons with inscriptions “Peace, not war,” “Cease hostilities, start talks on peace!” and “We want peace!” according to the Yonhap news agency.

The representatives of various NGOs stress that the demonstration is not directed against Trump’s visit to South Korea. The event’s participants want to draw attention to the problem of security on the Korean Peninsula.

Trump arrived on Sunday in Tokyo as part of his longest official foreign trip. The president is expected to have dinner with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe later in the day and play golf. The two leaders will focus on the North Korean issue during their meetings.
